GAME Stores Covering Their Tracks

GAME are replacing disks that were sold as new but aren't, all good but I have issues with this...

Some of you may of heard that UK retail store GAME have been selling used games as new. Now GAME have said that all games sold as 'new' that were delivered in poor condition are now liable for a full refund or replacement.

So if you were one of the unfortunates, then you get a new game, great good for you.

What bothers me about this story is how GAME gone about covering up their tracks. Check out this statement from GAME on the matter.
"It has come to our attention that a small number of our customers have raised concerns about the physical condition of some products purchased from our websites in the current Easter sale period."

Wow what a long way of saying 'We've noticed that you've noticed that we've been selling old games" Note the use of the term 'small amount', they had to get that in didn't they. Lovely PR GAME, you've really pulled the wool over our eyes now.

They continue to say (my thoughts are in bold),
"We can categorically confirm that all products sold as "new" on our web sites are new." (Sure they are GAME) In order to ensure that we had adequate inventory cover to meet the projected demand during the sale period (translation, wow we soooo awesome, we're just selling games left right and centre. Check us out) we had moved some stock back from stores and into our online distribution centre. This stock should be in MINT condition (yes they should) but we are now aware that some ex-display stock has slipped through our quality screening processes. (phhs Quality screening process, a guy in a warehourse looking at the box) This stock is new (it has never been owned by anyone other than us, and certainly it has never been played) however it may have been stripped of its plastic wrapping."

Highlighted in red is my problem with this story overall. One thing I tell anyone whose is buying a game brand new that doesn't buy games very often is, if you're buying a game brand new, always make sure that it is wrapped and has the sticker to indicate that it has not been opened. If they (the staff) hand you a game other wise. then don't acept it. That game has been opened.

GAME should of never let ex-display game to be sold as new. Just like any other store, they should warn you that the item that you are purchasing has been on public display previous. O.K fair enough, GAME stores only has the box displayed, but still, the disk has been moved, touched by someone else. So it shouldn't be sold as new.

Heres a visual aid for those that can't be arsed to read.
